Who We Are

Saralyn Ward, founder and director of Core Concepts of Colorado, has been helping people realign and rebalance for over 5 years. After graduating from Penn State with a degree in Dance and Kinesiology, Saralyn moved to New York, NY to study the Pilates method. She was fully certified by Stott Pilates in 2004, and began her career at the most recognized studio outside of Manhattan: Renaissance Pilates in Hoboken, NJ. It was there that she developed a new class, accessible to everyone, which fused traditional upright dance movements with Pilates matwork. In 2006, Saralyn was recertified by Pilates Academy International, and began teaching at Pilates on Fifth, in New York, NY. In addition, in 2007 she was certified in CARDIOLATES®, which allowed her to round out her clients’ workouts with cardiovascular training on a rebounder.

Saralyn’s clients have included individuals from all walks of life: from professional dancers, television personalities, college students, athletes recovering from injury and people suffering from chronic health conditions, to name just a few. Furthermore, Saralyn has advanced her Pilates education with several pre-and post-natal workshops, and has thoroughly enjoyed working with multiple pregnant clients, from their first trimester through their post-natal rehabilitation process. However, it was after becoming an Instructor Trainer for PAI that Saralyn discovered a new passion: teaching others to become Pilates instructors. After teaching at Pilates Academy International’s headquarters for 2 years, Saralyn moved to Boulder, CO to open a satellite training center catering to the western states.  Thus, Core Concepts of Colorado, LLC was born.  Besides running Core Concepts, you can also find Saralyn teaching at Colorado Athletic Club in Boulder, and at the University of Colorado.

Additionally, while in New York, Saralyn had the pleasure of being featured as a fitness model in Dance Spirit and Pilates Style magazines, as well as working on various fitness videos such as the 2007 SELF magazine series, and Inspired Production’s Hip Hop: Hit the Spot. 2010 brought many more opportunities, including a DVD production with Gaiam and Reebok, among others. Her dance credits have included performing in and choreography for the HATCH modern dance series, and study at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, Peridance, the Alvin Ailey School, and Steps on Broadway. When she is not teaching, Saralyn enjoys continuing her dance training, traveling, and spending time outdoors with her boyfriend Tom and her dog Kaiser. Her teaching is designed to inspire and empower people of all ages, ability levels, and physical conditions. By refining and strengthening their movement patterns, Saralyn strives to help her clients and students live a full, balanced and pain-free life.
