Pilates for Kids

“In childhood, habits are easily formed – good and bad. Why not then concentrate on the formation of only good habits and thus avoid the necessity later on in life of attempting to correct bad habits…”
-Joseph H. Pilates, 1934

In today’s age of video games, television, and computers, our children’s physical fitness is becoming harder and harder to maintain. Of course, the best place for children to learn good habits is at home from their parents, but schools also play a big part in helping kids discover that exercise can be fun. Pilates doesn’t have to be only for those over 18 – why not encourage your children’s love of movement early, with fun Pilates mat exercises!

Core Concepts of Colorado is fully insured and available for children’s birthday parties, special guest PE classes, or curriculum consultation. Pilates is already inherently interesting to kids – what child doesn’t like to roll like a ball?! But by further modifying the language of Pilates to encourage children to “make a rainbow” with their body, or “clap like a seal”, we will help develop your child’s imagination, allow them to play “pretend”, and most importantly, make fitness fun. And, for teens dealing with the ups and downs of junior high and high school life, Pilates is sure to develop confidence, self-esteem, positive habits and good posture for years to come.
